Cardiff City Halted By Late McGugan Strike

Cardiff City were denied top sport in the Championship after Nottingham Forest`s injury time leveller rescued a point for the visitors.

It`s fair to say Forest were on top in the early exchanges with Cardiff struggling to find any rhythm. Anderson and McGoldrick were the chief tormentors and both shot wide when well placed and had a penalty claim waved away. However, it was Cardiff City who forced the better chances and Lee Camp was forced into brilliant saves from Whittingham (twice) and Ledley.

In the second half, the Bluebirds were in the ascendancy and looked in control. Bothroyd and Ledley went close before the former eventually broke the deadlock after a flowing move, Jay finishing low from just inside the area.

However, the goal signalled a turn in the game and Forest fought back strongly. The Bluebirds sat deeper and deeper, leaving a frustrated Chopra and Burke to feed off scraps and while we survived a couple of hairy moments - we were just too deep, and looked vulnerable. The (almost) inevitable equaliser came moments after 90 minutes when Adebola`s flick landed for fellow substitute Lewis McGugan to fire home a fierce left footed volley. A good finish, and probably a deserved point for Forest despite Marshall not making a real save all game!
