Cardiff City started brightly against Sheffield United and Anthony Gerrard went close with a shot in the first minute. However, Sheffield were showing no signs of their own poor form and were playing brightly.
After a flurry of early chances for both sides, the game went flat and was contested mostly in midfield. That was no indication of the carnage to come.
An incredible 4 minutes spell just before halt-time saw Bothroyd score, before Henderson equalised stright from kick-off after nipping past Hudson. Bothroyd won a penalty converted by Whittingham before a free-kick caused havoc, Marshall saved once but Henderson's rebound header levelled the scores.
After the break, Sheffield United looked the better side but Ledley and Whittingham had decent efforts for the Bluebirds.
Treacy continued to cause problems while Glenn Little's delivery was good throughout. Mark Kennedy, Jay Bothroyd and Adam Matthews all made goal-saving blocks as the Blades pressed.
However, it was the Bluebirds who again took the lead when Mark Hudson flicked on a Matthews long throw and the arriving Whittingham squeezed his shot home at the far post.
Bothroyd unselfishly tried to pass after beating Morgan with a sublime first touch - however, Kilgallon blocked the effort. Kilgallon and Henderson went close with headers before City made it 4-2.
With a few minutes to go, Cardiff City scored a truly beautiful goal to seal the game. McCormack was instrumental, Chopra and Bothroyd involved and Peter Whittingham sweetly struck home for hit HAT-TRICK. Well done Peter Whittingham.
Sheff Utd's new signing Henri Camara looked lively and saw a low shot fly inches wide. The Blades pulled a goal back with 2 minutes to go when James Harper poked home to give his side just a glimmer of hope. Unbelievably, Stephen Quinn hit home from a rebound follwoing Marshall's save from Walker for what looked like a dramatic lateequaliser but it was ruled out for offside and Cardiff City held on for an impressive win. Dave Jones will be extremely frustrated with the two goals conceded but scoring 4 goals away from home at Sheffield United is no mean feat. A fourth win in five games sees Cardifff City continue the great form.
An crazy crazy game.
