Cardiff City host Crystal Palace and one man likely to be involved and given a hot reception is Palace defender Claude Davis - the player who left Roger Johnson needing a hospital stay last year following a violent elbow to the throat.
Cardiff City fans are not the most forgiving bunch, and we have impressive memories. If Davis does play he will be given stick but he says it won`t bother him and regards any abuse directed at him as high praise!
Davis told yourlocalguardian.co.uk:
"That's football, only good players get booed,"
"I'm not really thinking about what the Cardiff fans reaction will be, only if you are a nobody do you not get booed."
I`m not sure I follow him point there… If we were booing him because he was good and a threat to us (e.g. van Persie at Arsenal) then perhaps. Sorry Claude but there are only two reasons why Bluebirds fans might know the name. Firstly because the name 'Claude Davis` regularly crops up in list of 'worst Premiership buys` after Billy Davies and Derby County spent £3m on him only to let him leave on a free just 25 appearances later and following one of the worst defensive records in Premiership history. The second is for 'that` elbow and does the man believe we wouldn`t boo and player who left one of the clubs` most loved players in agony and coughing up blood. Whether it was Ryan Giggs, Bobby Moore or a 16 year old youth player from Accrington Stanley…..he`d get booed.
Following the Claude Davis logic, Rhys Weston, Andy Jordan and Richard Langley must be amongst the finest players ever to grace our club and must surely go down as all-time Cardiff City legends?!?
