Cardiff City Hammer Watford In Emphatic 4-0 Win

Cardiff City scored their tenth goal in a week after blowing Watford away during a 4-0 thrashing at Vicarage Road. City started brightly but the Horents had the better chances and hit the post through Cowie.

However, Cardiff were passing the ball neatly and scored the opener when Bothroyd was hauled down for a clear penalty - Whittingham sending Loach the wrong way. Hudson hit the post before Chopra missed a glorious chance after good work by Bothroyd. However, it wasn't all one way traffic as Danny Graham posed problems throughout.

On fourty minutes, Cardiff got the decisive second in bizarre fashion when 17 year old Adam Matthews hit a free-kick from the halfway line. There appeared no danger until Scott Loach completely misjudged the flight and saw the ball bounce over his head.

The second hald saw more of the same zip and gflair from Cardiff and a beautiful team move saw Gavin Rae chip for Whittingham to head home his second and the team's third. Nathan Ellington caused problems but spent more time defending before Jay Bothroyd went through before turning and planting an exquisite shot into the corner - a very good and deserved goal for Jay who was excellent throughout.

Watford piled on the pressure but were unable to force a goal with Hudson and Gerrard immense and the entire team working incredibly hard. Chopra missed another sitter late on but it barely mattered as City outclassed Watford and deserved the win. There was a welcome return for Ross McCormack while McPhail and Rae were fantastic - a week ago it was all doom and gloom, funny what 6 points and a 10-1 aggregate can do?!?
