Cardiff City: Dismal, Dour and Defeated

Cardiff City succumbed to a dreadful defeat in losing 2-0 to Queens Park Rangers and dismayed to 20k strong crowd with a lifeless, and inept performance. Jay Simpson got both goals but City didn`t deserve a thing from the game and had only themselves to blame.

From the distribution of Paul Quinn, to the dis-interest of Jay Bothroyd - this was Cardiff City at their worst and while Chris Burke was energetic and tried to inject some pace - he too was wasteful and endured a frustrating afternoon. The only other glimmer of hope was provided by Josh Magennis who put in a great deal of effort and showed that simple mobility, and determination can cause problems. He linked well with Chopra, and actually cared when he made mistakes or was ignored by a team-mate and showed more ambition than most in his substitute cameo.

The midfield was not right, the full-backs painfully wasteful while Bothroyd was virtually non-existent. Chopra was deprived of all possession and cut a lonely figure chasing down back-passes in vain. This was a day to forget for all Cardiff City fans, it was extremely disappointing and must be rectified immediately.

I thought it was more of a case that we played well - particularly in the second half - you cannot perform well if you don't have the ball. I feel for you guys, the soul of Ninian Park wasn't there and the intimidation factor has gone.

We were shocking, thought QPR worked hard but nothing special

That was the worst I've seen us play for years, even in league 2! when we did have the ball, how many times did it go backwards (down to QPR) but also crosses going miles wide, our corners were miles away and there was a general lack of effort. I thought Rowlands was excellent and Gorkss and Stewart must be 2 of the strongest players in the Championship - we needed to turn them,. but never managed it.
