Trollope High Praise For Cardiff City
Cardiff City were afforded high praise by beaten Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope after the Bluebirds produced a dominant display to see off the Pirates 3-1. The first half performance was particularly impressive with City creating a number of chances - in truth, Rovers were lucky to still be in the game.
Goals from Chopra, Whittingham and a late header from youngster Josh Magennis ended Rovers dreams after a spirited fightback saw them score and give a few second half scares to the Bluebirds.
Visiting manager Paul Trollope paid tribute to the Bluebirds. Trollope told bristolrovers.co.uk:
'Cardiff had a very strong half in which they passed the ball well, moved quickly, and ripped us apart on a number of occasions.'
'I don't think we will come up against too many sides like that in League One this season. Their movement and some of their passing in wide and forward areas was of a high quality, and better than we see in our division week in week out.'
'We've played against a number of teams from higher divisions in recent seasons, in various cup competitions, and that first half display by Cardiff was probably one of the best we've seen, which is credit to Cardiff and to their manager Dave Jones.'
It's been a good 4 days for City with both Bristol sides coming to CCS and heading back to the West Country after a sound beating. Three goals in each game highlight the creativity and confidence running through the team while the single goal conceded went to the side in the league below. It was poor marking from a corner that saw Steve Elliot score but the win was rarely in doubt and continues our fine start to the season.
Played 6, won 5, 3 goals conceded & 17 scored.
