Cardiff City To Swoop For Wigan Midfielder?

Cardiff City are in the market for a couple more players to bolster the threadbare squad that has made an encouraging start to the new season with one of those players likely to be a central midfielder with persistent doubts over our balance when Ledley, McPhail and Rae are in the team.

One player who would fit the bill is former Crystal Palace man Ben Watson who is currently out of favour at Wigan Athletic. The Latics paid £2m for his services but is reportedly unsettled and could be heading for a loan move away from DW-land.

The Daily Mail believes Cardiff City will be his destination, though aknowledges we face stiff competition from the likes of QPR, Middlesborough and Ipswich Town.

Watson would certainly fit the mould of the type of player we need, and would also be a quality acquisition. At 24, he remains an exciting prospect with real aspirations of becoming a seasoned Premiership pro.

He'd be great but i have the feeling martinez would rather 2m than just a season long loan. But come on DJ bring him to city.

I believe the deal under discussion is a £500k season long loan, with a further £1.5m option for a permanent deal in May. Thats not 100% confirmed yet thou

a rumour again circultaing this week is that wayne routledge is in cardiff with dave jones over talks for a move back here. in order for this to happen my source also claims that joe ledley is about to go to everton for £4m full cash plus addons making deal worth nearly £6m which would pave way for routledges return. whether this is tru is another matter and a loan signing seems more likely to me...................................but stranger things have happened and everton just had 24m for lescott so u never know!!

I heard the Routledge deal was called off last week, and we've now gone for Etuhu. It was on and off a fair few times, but he's been in good form for QPR and they wanted to keep him. As for Ledley, didnt Everton sign a left-mid in the past few days?

not sure fella but they now have funds to secure a deal so who knows? we just signed that guy from dagenham also
