Cardiff City Impress Even Without Key Duo

Cardiff City fans are understandably buzzing following the resounding 3-0 home victory against Bristol City that made it 3 wins from 4 and saw us return to the summit of an albeit embryonic Championship table.

The manner of the victory, individual and team performances were pleasing and it was a first win against a team widely tipped to challenge at the top end of the league this year.

Further to the excellent performance and result is the fact that it was acheived without two players crucial to our best form last year - and whose return in the next few weeks will undoubtedly strengthen the matchday squad.

Ross McCormack and Kevin McNaughton are the key players out, joined in the treatment room of late by McPhail, Kennedy, Scimeca and Gyepes - all of whom are now returned to full training.

It's the two Scotsmen hopwever who are certain to return to the fold once fit and both are likely to feature in the starting line-up to add extra quality. These are two consistent and important players, one to plug the left-back position and another to add further firepower up-front or cutting in from the left.

McNaughton and McCormack were probably the second and third ranked players for us last season (after the now departed Roger Johnson) and their return can only signal good news for the table-topping Bluebirds.
