Praise For Cardiff City Forgotten Man Blake

Cardiff City forgotten man Darcy Blake has been given generous praise and firm backing by his Wales U21s manager Brian Flynn - the former Wrexham manager having transformed the Dragon`s youth into an exciting and dynamic side full of potential.

Blake has not featured for the Bluebirds this season, despite the serious injury problems experienced in his position - right back. His versatility allows him to operate there, in central defence or in midfield adding a tenacious presence and cutting edge. However, his chances have been limited despite some solid and committed performances. His place appears to have been usurped by fellow U21 International Adam Matthews leaving Darcy`s position at the club in doubt. The idea of a loan move for Blake has been considered, though with our current injury problems - that seems unlikely at present.

Blake has been given a big seal of approval by his U21s manager, who has also worked with the likes of Chris Gunter, and Aaron Ramsey. Flynn told the SW Echo:
"Darcy`s always been outstanding for Wales."
"In the two-legged European Championship qualifier against England last year, he was very close to being our man-of-the-match."
"The challenge for Darcy is to get in the Cardiff side and stay there. He`s just got to carry on working hard and make the most of his opportunity when it comes."

Chris Gunter previously forced himself into the Cardiff City first team on the back of sterling performances for Wales, Darcy Blake must be hoping for the same though he seems a far way from Dave Jones` plans at the moment. At this stage of his career he needs regular first team action if he is to develop and reach his obvious potential.

i agree hes a promising player but if jones doesn't consider him in our plans at present then the lad needs to go out on loan to get valuable first team experience under his belt

I'd like to see us send a few players on loan to Wrexham, maybe darcy could do a job in league 1 or 2 tho - he needs games but never seems in DJ's plans
