'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager Comments After Cardiff Beat Plymouth

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was delighted with the three points but bemoaned the referee's decision to dismiss Tony Capaldi for a late handball. He told BBC Sport:

'It was a hard-earned win, it was a superb first half. We stood firm in an aerial bombardment in the first 20 minutes of the second half before we took control the game late on - but we had to weather a lot of pressure.'

'Tony Capaldi's sending off was annoying because it was for a handball whereas Chris Burke was brought down for a penalty when clean through and the player was not booked.'

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock praised the Bluebirds and admitted his side couldn't cope with Michale Chopra up-front:

'In the first half our central defenders weren't with it and against players like Chopra and Boothroyd, you can't afford to give them anything. You saw what happen when we did.'

'Cardiff are a quality team and deserved to win the game.'
