'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager Comments After Cardiff Trounce Iron

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was pleased with his side and for the fans today after the Bluebirds notched the first win at the new stadium. Dave told BBC Sport:

"We started a bit sloppy and could have been caught out. It took us 10 to 15 minutes to settle down and got a lucky goal."

"I felt after we got the goal we played some really good football. It's been a long time since there was 22,000 people watching Cardiff and I thought the fans deserved big credit today."

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins was in bullish mood before the game determinedly demanding a win from his players. However, his attitude was somewhat diluted after the game:

"We had an early chance and presented Cardiff with problems until they scored."

"Today we were given a hiding but the players must respond in the right way.
'We know we need to defend much better but it would have been a big shock if we had taken anything from this game which gave our players a real welcome to the Championship."
