Cardiff City vs Scunthorpe United (Team News)

Cardiff City host Scunthorpe in the long-awaited season opener tomorrow with both sides hoping for a good start to the Champiosnhip schedule.

Cardiff City look set to hand a first start to David Marshall in goal, while Paul Quinn and Mark Hudson also look set for debuts. Gabor Gyepes and Anthony Gerrard will vye for a starting place but Scotsman Kevin McNaughton is ruled out for several weeks. His place will likely be filled by Mark Kennedy.

Midfield has long been considered a problem and DJ must decide which combination to go with in the centre. Ledley, Rae and McPhail hope for the nod while Whittingham and the impressive Chris Burke are likely starters on the wings.

Chopra and Bothroyd look set to start in attack meaning no place for want-away striker Ross McCormack.

Scunthorpe United centre-backs Rob Jones (groin) and David Mirfin (ankle) have both recently returned to training and are available for selection.

Striker Gary Hooper (back) is a doubt while Kenny Milne is definitely ruled out with a knee injury.
