McCormack's Had Enough Of Cardiff City

Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack has officially requested a transfer after a conversation with Peter Ridsdale in which he stated he wished to leave if another club enquired.

The decision will cause disappointment to Bluebirds fans after the Scottish International recently signed a new 4 year deal with the club. That also means we are under no pressure to sell and can stick to any price we wish.

Clearly, it would not be beneficial to enter the new season with a wantaway striker whose heart is elsewhere but that is what we will have unless someone, Hull City and Wigan Athletic amonst them, comes up with at least £3m.

He will now have to scour the transfer market for a replacement after missing out on Dave Clarkson who joined Bristol City. Ched Evans is a potential target. A bonus to this development is that McCormack was a top earner at the club, freeing up a sizable chunk in the wage bill.

McCormack is a hugely ambitious player and in my opinion did well but not spectacularly in his first season. He scored some memorable goals and showed a creative spark but many of his goals came from dead ball situations. He might find this a huge step-up having played in the SPL, and just one season in the Championship. Nevertheless, a replacement for McCormack will be difficult to find.
