Hull Ready With Long-Awaited Ledley Bid

It seems one of the longest transfer sagas in Cardiff City history could move up a gear with Hull City now ready to table their first firm bid for unsettled midfielder Joe Ledley.

With no new contract signed, it seems Ledley would be allowed to leave for a fee upwards of £3m but despite reported interest from Hull City, Stoke City, Everton, Fulham and more - no bids have been tabled for the Welshman.

In fact, this rumour has been around for over a year and Bluebirds fans would be delighted to have closure rather than incesant rumours and uncertainly. At least we could get on with planning for the forthcoming season.

One further problem is that we need to offload quickly if we are to bring in a replacement so the lack of activity has limited our options and likely reduced the fee we can expect. Hull City's first 'test-the-water' bid is likely to start at £2m with a further £2m based on appearances and bonuses. That will not be accepted but Ridsdale will surely offer a quick sale for an extra £500k-£1m - that could suit both parties with Hull suffering badly in the transfer window.

Best case scenario would be a bidding war between the interested clubs but even then, we are unlikely to receive the £6.5m sum offered by the Potters last season.

One additional complication is that Hull City are also in the market for a new striker and could yet move for Ross McCormack in a double swoop. That would cause headaches for both Jones and Ridsdale and much negotiation would be needed to identify an appropriate deal - further stalling the move.
