Cardiff City's Parry Set For Doncaster Switch ?
Cardiff City's longest serving player Paul Parry could be set for an exit from the club with Dave Jones looking to shake-up his much maligned midfield and looking to free up space on the wage bill.
Parry was a £75k signing for Lennie Lawrence and has been an exceptional buy for that sum. However, his form has been erratic at times and he had a bitterly disappointing 2nd half of last season. He has not been helped by failing to nail down a regular position and has played on both flanks and in attack for the Bluebirds.
Parry retired from International duty citing personal reasons and has not looked the same player since. At his best, he is pacy, direct and a potent threat but we rarely saw glimpses of that form as he failed to contribute last season.
However, Parry remains a useful squad player at Championship level and recently stated his determination to return to top form. He may need a change in club to re-ignite his career and is attracting strong interest from Doncaster Rovers who are preparing a deal in the order of £500k.
That sum would be a great return and allow a new winger to be brought in. We already have Ledley, Burke and Whittingham with Ross McCormack also tipped for a wide role this coming season.
