Cardiff City Boss U-Turn On 'Courage' Challenge

Vital Cardiff City was among the first to raise eyebrows at Dave Jones' comments last week challenging his chairman to go out and sign three extra players. See here for full story.

However, we were not alone in noticing an undertone to Jones' comments and for the first time seeing the Bluebirds boss and Chairman singing from different hymn sheets as it were. Previously the two have been thick as thieves and were always carefully to co-ordinate their press releases to back each other up.

Dave Jones has now acted swiftly to quell rumours of any discontent between the pair and has shifted his line from issuing 'does he have the courage' challenges to 'I know the parameters I must work in'. Once again, the pair are both towing the party line. Jones told BBC Sport:

'There's no rift with me and the chairman which was put out, there's nothing like that.'

'There's no problem. I know the parameters that I have to work with at this football club.'

'Unfortunately because of the way we have to wheel and deal and... our outlook on wages... to get that little bit stronger and to try and make other positions stronger, we might have to sell a player.'

It seems unlikely that Jones was forced to U-turn in this way, he was probably just having a strange day as he usually prefers to liase with Ridsdale in private rather than in the press with whom he has an uneasy relationship.

The ironic thing is, neither these nor previous statements will have altered perceptions of the fans (whom these comments are aimed at) with all accepting our situation by now. If there's one Cardiff City fan who genuinely thought we'd bring in three without losing any - they're more mad than the rest of us!!
