Cardiff City New Boy Set For Scots Shock Role

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall had a torrid time last season as his Norwich City side was relegated from the Championship. However, he was rapidly snapped up by the Bluebirds and said to be looking forward to a new chapter in his career.

With the step up in clubs, Marshall could yet be dealt a huge slice of fortune albeit following the demise of others. He is a Scottish International and is now a leading candidate to start betweeen the posts in Scotland's crucial upcoming qualifier against Norway.

Number one Craig Gordon has picked up a knee injury, likely to see him miss out while Alan MacGregor has been outcast for his previous boozy antics.

That leaves David Marshall, and another familiar name Neil Alexander vying for the Scotland number one jersey. Manager George Burley has backed Marshall's Bluebirds switch and told the Daily Mail:

'David Marshall played in the B game at the end of last season and he has made a good move to Cardiff over the summer.'

Marshall is not a certain starter for Cardiff City, with Peter Enckelman also fit and hoping for the nod. Marshall made his Bluebirds bow in the win over Chasetown and made a steady start with two smart saves.
