Cardiff City look ready to raid another of last season's relegated Championship sides with the Bluebirds hot on the trail of highly rated Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman.
The 22 year old is a key member of Southampton's quad and has represented England U21s on 4 occasions - scoring 1 goal. Surman is a creative influence and likes to get forward - he has been compared to Bluebirds midfielder Stephen McPhail by several pundits - as a left-footed central midfield player with an impressive passing array.
Surman would command a fee upwards of £570k despite the Saints financial difficulties and relegation. A number of other clubs are monitoring the South African born midfielder with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United amongst those with confirmed interest. Southampton have received one bid so far and will discuss their options with the new backers this week.
