Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack has given his backing to his former Motherwell boss Mark McGhee for the currently vacant manager's job at Glasgow Celtic. Gordan Strachan departed this week, and the hunt is on for his successor - an appointment former Cardiff City man Glenn Loovens will anxiously await.
McCormack enjoyed an impressive first season in English football and is currently in talks to extend his contract. He has also impressed in the Scottish National side and spoke of his former boss during a visit to Schools in Scotland:
'When I left Rangers and went to Motherwell I had a difficult first season, then he came in and told me I was going to be one of his main players.'
'He gave me a whole new confidence to play football and I think it showed, I really enjoyed my football and improved as a player. He just knows that every player has got a different mentality.'
'He knows how to get the best out of players and I think that's one of the main reasons why he would do so well at Celtic.'
Ross McCormack has attracted interest from otehr clubs before joing Cardiff City and since with Birmingham considering re-igniting their interest following the Blues' promotion. However, whilst he apsires to play at the highest level, McCormack recently intimated he was 'loving' life at Cardiff City and with Cardiff unwilling to sell him after just one year, there are promising signs of an improved deal. Either way, he was worth every penny of the £100k compensation we paid Motherwell and must surely go down as one of the Championship buys of the season.
