Cardiff City fans have voted over the last 5 days as to whether Dave Jones shopuld have gone as the man repsonsible for our end-of-season catastrophe.
It is common knowledge that Dave Jones has both strengths and weaknesses. His eye for spotting bargains cannot be questioned: McNaughton, Johnson, Gyepes, Bothroyd, McCormack and Chopra spring to mind - costing a little over £1m between them.
In contrast, out goalkeeping department and midfield have been clear problems for some time and this has not been addressed. Whilst Jones has managed to get the best out of players like Koumas, Bothropyd - others have simply failed with nothing done - think McPhail, Whittingham.
A recent poll on this Vital Cardiff City website invited readers for their thoughts on Dave Jones' future:
No! DJ must stay! 67%
No - another year for DJ. 12%
Players to blame - not DJ. 5%
Yes - we're going nowhere. 2%
Yes - need a change now. 11%
Too gutted to care... 3%
The results whos a great deal of support for the manager who oversaw a period of re-building, kept us in the Championship before leading us to an FA Cup final and within a whisker of a play-off place.
79% want DJ here for at least another year - and they will get their wish almost certainly. Chairman Peter Ridsdale remains staunchly behind his manager and has already confirmed there will be no change in management. However, if Dave Jones was offered another position - he may take it. He has an appalling relationship with the local press in the area and with QPR rumoured to be interrested - that seems the only way we would see a change of manager for the new stadium.
