Cardiff City fans are due to be given another chance to visit their historic Ninian Park spiritual home before we move across the road to the new stadium for our 2009/10 Championship campaign. Many thought we were sure to win a play-off place meaning that another match would be staged at the 99 year old stadium but that wasn`t to be.
Unfortunately that meant that Ipswich Town`s 3-0 victory over a woeful Bluebirds team was to be the last ever game at NP prompting the club to consider staging a friendly/memorial/testimonial match. However, the prospect of another game, in front of a half full stadium was not popular and instead - alternative arrangements have been made to allow fans to return.
Instead, a 'Party In The Park 'will take place on Saturday 16th May - this will allow fans to visit, take photographs and explore the backstage areas including changing room, treatment room etc. As part of the gesture, the club has agreed to halve all hospitality and food prices whilst entrance will be free.
Hopefully, the event will provide a more fitting send-off than the inglorious 3-0 drubbing 'celebration` with disconsolate players, stunned fans, a few cheap beach balls and a few thousand bits of paper!
