Cardiff City Nostalgia Plan Goes Perfectly ?

Cardiff City fans could be forgiven for thinking that Saturday's dismal defeat was a cunning ploy evoked by the club as a throwback to previous years and decades at Ninian Park - designed to remind fans of the times they have spent in the old stadium.


Whilst we are not accustomed to shoddy defending and 3-0 scorelines this season (or probably in the past few) - fans over more than just a few years will clearly remember being dished out pastings on a regular basis. This was ex-Premiership Ipswich Town, rather than the Torquay United or Maidstone of yesteryear.


Of course, it is now late April but we were not denied the wind and rain that are present in many memories of Ninian Park matches - a shame we didnt need the floodlights with at least a third of bulbs missing!


Memories of missed penalties, awful defending, lack of commitment and moans on the terraces are all carved forever into Ninian Park history - yet have been missing in recent times.


We were also treated to a farewell celebration following the game. Anti-climax doesn't even begin to cover it, not only were the 19000 fans, and players left flat and somewhat embarassed - the 'firworks' and glitter display would have been disappointing in a Grangetown back garden.


I'd be prepared to believe this one off ending, except for the small matter of a 6-0 capitulation at Preston last week and the signs that we have been creaking for several weeks now...


Hopefully, that was not the final game at Ninian Park. It'd be a travesty if it were....
