'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Manager Comments After Cardiff-Ipswich Debacle

Cardiff City managfer Dave Jones refused to meet the media following our three nil defeat to Ipswich Town. Instead Terry Burton was dispatched for the post match interviews but BBC Radio Wales caught up with Jones on the field:

'I don't know how we lost it because the first half we've absolutely battered them, but we've got to put the ball in the back of the net.'

'The
[missed] penalty knocked a little bit of stuffing out of us, the first goal was a bad one to give away and the second was even worse.'

'It's a good job I'm here with you on this pitch because I'm ready to absolutely flip.'

By contrast Roy Keane would have been delighted with his return to management. The Ipswich fans sung his name while his side crushed a team notoriously difficult to beat at home. He told BBC Sport:

'They put us under pressure with particularly good set pieces. They are a big, strong team and we coped well with that and obviously the keeper's made a great save which I think was the turning point in the match.'

'I said to the players before the game subs have a big part to play in football and Steady came on and I think the scored one and set two up, so he will be pleased with his day's work.'
