Cardiff City left it late last night before snatching a point from relegated Charlton courtesy of two goals in the final 10 minutes. Prior to that, City were poor and lacked quality in all areas of the pitch.
We looked jaded, ill-disciplined and extremely nervous for long periods and although unlucky to be behind - it was clear the system wasn't working.
Chopra is clearly injured, McCormack is no winger and Paul Parry looks less dangerous than if we'd had Bartley Bluebird on the flank. The two full-backs were poor but had to cope with a severely wasteful midfield and lack of options.
The player who came on was Chris Burke and he made the difference. Not only did his goal spark the comeback, he looked busy and genuinely likely to make something happen. He gave us balance and width we haven't had when McCormack, Whittingham or Parry is deployed on the right and simply must start against Ipswich Town.
To my mind, Burke has been unlucky not to feature more and was the fall-guy as we were reduced to 9 men against Sheffield United. He deserves a chance ahead of Whittingham and Parry and dare i say it he would make it easier to incorporate McPhail in the side. With the added width, McPhail would be given more time and space aswell as having a natural wide outlet - Burke must play!
Whitts and McPhail were dropped completely from last night's squad - and rightly so based on form. Neither could complain. Dave Jones will not want to tinker with his side too much but Chris Burke deserves to start both the Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday games. Chopra, Parry, Kennedy and Comminges should be very nervous about their starting positions for Saturday.
