Injuries Update, Paul Parry returns

The growing injury list at Ninian Park means that Dave Jones may need to experiment with his meagre and weary squad.

Glenn Loovens went off at half time at Southampton and his fitnessed will not be assessed until closer to the weekend, his replacement would be Neil Cox already having played through a painful shoulder injury that will require surgery at the end of the season.

Jason Koumas played on saturday while nursing an injury, it is not known whether the injury is serious enough to prevent him making this weekends game againt already promoted Reading.

Stand-in right back Neal Ardley is also nuring a shoulder injury as well as being severely fatigued after a long and gruelling season.

Up-front, striker Steve Thompson was sorely missed against the Saint with a hamstring problem and is rated at possible at best for the next game, coupled to this the ankle injury picked up midweek by Andrea Ferretti (the reserves losing 2-0 to Bristol Rovers), leaving Cameron Jerome and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu as the only two recognised strikers fit.

In terms of good news Paul Parry played for the first time in 2006 following a serious knee injury. He returned to full training last thursday and played 74 minutes of the reserve team game.

Fringe players Martyn Margetson, Jermaine Darlington and Phil Mulryne has all recently returned to training following minor knocks.




Dave Jones reckons the injury list is worse than this even:

'I have injuries all over the pitch, and almost every one of my squad is carrying a knock of some kind.'
