Stuttering Preston Must Take Cardiff City Chance

Cardiff City travel to Preston North End tomorrow with the Lilywhites needing a win to continue their faltering play-off hopes after a series of inconsistent results have seen them falter.

Preston must rely on other results to acheive a play-off place that has looked less likely over the past few weeks following back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest back in March. Since then, they have recorded 2 wins, 3 draws and a defeat to Blackpool.

Preston have been there or thereabouts all season and would be desperately unlucky to miss out now. However, they are below Swansea City on goal difference and remain 4 points behind local rivals Burnely in the last play-off place.

With three games remaining, it seems that Burnley, Preston and Swansea will scrap it out for the one remaining position unless Reading lose their game in hand and get dragged in. Either way, Preston must win all their remaining games to have a realistic chance and that starts against the Bluebirds - a defeat would probably mean Championship football again next season.

Cardiff City would also love a win to retain their outside chance of automatic promotion, with Birmingham and Sheffield United due to play each other.

Should be a good game...!
