Crystal Palace One To Watch: Shefqi Kuqi

Cardiff City have the pleasure of travelling to London tomorrow for a clash with mid-table Crystal Palace. The Eagles have little but pride to play for in the remainder of this season while boss Neil Warnock has already started planning for the future with teenage winger Cadogan scoring on his debut during a midweek 1-1 draw with Coventry City.

The Eagles have some decent players within their ranks, and some might say they have under-performed this season. The likes of Paul Ifill, Neil Danns, Shaun Derry and Nick Carle have obvious pedigree at this level. Big things are expected from the likes of tricky wideman Victor Moses and Irish striker Anthony Stokes (ex-Arsenal).

None of those players are the one singled out by Vital Cardiff as the player to watch for Palace. Instead Shefqi Kuqi will be our dangerman and one that Roger Johnson and Gabor Gyepes must use all their skill and experience to marshall.

Whilst we would never claim Kuqi possesses great skill, pace or even goalscoring record - he has netted 9 in the league this season and many Cardiff City fans will remember him scoring against us just a week or so ago when Finland beat a woeful Wales 2-0 at the Millenium Stadium.

Kuqi is a journeyman, and is a big presence, just the sort of player that often causes us problems. He regularly pops up with a goal against the Bluebirds and scored in three successive games for the Eagles back in March.

If we play to our full potential, we will easily outgun Palace. McCormack, Chopra and Bothroyd will be a tough test for their defence, although they have been difficult to breach of late. Cardiff City have to want it more, and they should do.
