Taylor Would Swap Aston Villa For Cardiff City

Cardiff City currently have five goalkeepers on their books with four having appeared as our number one choice at some point throughout the season. Three are on loan: Tom Heaton (Manchester United), Dimi Konstantopoulos (Coventry City) and Stuart Taylor (Aston Villa).

Stuart Taylor is currently in possession of the shirt and with Peter Enckelmean's injury, and Konstantopoulos' frailties - the Bluebirds are considering applying to Martin O'Neill to extend Taylor's loan until the end of the season. Currently the former Arsenal man is due to return following our next two fixtures with his last appearance against Burnley on Easter Monday.

However, Taylor appears frustrated with his lack of opportunities at Villa, and is angling for a permanent switch to the Bluebirds. He is currently behind Brad Freidel and Brad Guzan at Villa Park and is desperate for first team action on a regular basis. Taylor was quoted in the official programme on a potential move:

'I don't really know what the manager's plans are at the moment but come the end of the season it could be a possibility."

'I'd need to talk things over with my family should such an opportunity arise but if something comes up then I'd certainly be interested in considering sticking around for longer.'

Taylor has done reasonably well so far for the Bluebirds, he has made a few key saves and considering his lack of action - he`s been solid. Cardiff City goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson may want to work some more on Taylor`s kicking after some wayward punts last night.

Dave Jones has perennially struggled to identify a long-term successor to Neil Alexander but both Heaton and Taylor have hinted at extended stays at the club if a deal can be struck.
