New Deals For Cardiff City Old-Timers

Cardiff City have decided not to wait until the end of the season before offering new deals to two our our most experienced players - indicating they have a role to play whether we end up in the Premiership or Championship next season.

Mark Kennedy has already put pen to paper on a contract extension after proving many doubters wrong (myself included) following a consistent and solid season in the left back position. Despite thoughts that Capaldi and Comminges would dominate that role - it is Irishman Kennedy who made the position his own and remains first choice left-back.

By contrast, Riccy Scimeca has barely featured at all this season - and has played the most minor of roles over the past couple of years dating back to a hamstring injury followed by surgery, infection and an ankle injury. However, the former Nottingham Forest man has also opened talks on a new Bluebirds deal and is also hoping to force his way into the side should an opportunity arise.

Both men are hugely experienced players in a relatively young squad. Both are influential players to have around the club on the field, in the dressing room and during training.
