Blades Ace Tips Cardiff City For Promotion

Sheffield United's Cardiff born attacker David Cotterill has back the Bluebirds for promotion despite helping his side to a 3-0 thumping of our 9 men at Ninian Park on Sunday.

Welsh International Cotterill converted the opening goal (to a chorus of boos), which changed the game completely. The incident left City a goal and a man down earlier on and Cotterill was mercilessly targeted by a bitter home crowd, in disbelief after two terrible decisions ended the game as a contest and cost us a glorious chance to get one over on our rivals.

Despite his hostile reception, and 3-0 win for his side, Cotterill is still backing his hometown club for a promotion spot. He told the SW Echo:

"They are a quality side. They have talented players. Okay, they had a bad day at the office during the match against us, but that certainly doesn`t make them a bad team. They`ll bounce back strongly."

"But that`s all part of football and, while Sheffield United are and must be my top priority, I believe Cardiff City will do well over their remaining matches."

After the disappointment and gifting of three points to the Blades, many Cardiff City fans would love a chance to meet them in the play-offs and this time with a fair encounter. The slightly inflammatory antics of Stephen Quinn and Paddy Kenny wound the Bluebirds support up, and with tensions already high at this stage of the season - a Bluebirds/Blades re-match see see emotions running very high.
