Cardiff City produced an effective performance to see off an in-form Doncaster Rovers courtesy of two first half goals and one from USA International Eddie Johnson - yes really.
City took an early lead for the second time in a week, this time Gavin Rae was the creator, skipping past two challenges before crossing for MICHAEL CHOPRA to control and pass perfectly into the corner.
Not long later it was two as JAY BOTHROYD scored a classy volley from outside the area as teh Donny defence retreated. Joe Ledley had a low effort cleared off the line and a Roger Johnson toe-poke from 4 yards was unlucky to find the hands of Neil Sullivan.
Rovers created little, and looked very ordinary. Jason Price nodded over from close range after we failed to deal with a corner.
After the break, there was little goalmouth action. Cardiff were in control but you felt a Rovers goal could set up a nervous ending. It wasn't to be however, and it was the much improved EDDIE JOHNSON who had the last word, collecting possession on the right, cutting inside before firing a low shot perfectly into the corner from 18 yards. No real power, just excellent placement. Well done to Eddie who played an hour and looked good once again.
On a day when most of the top teams triumphed, it was important we got the win. However, to hit three and keep a clean sheet is no mena feat against Doncaster and we were forced to substitute Kennedy, Bothroyd and Chopra with injuries to add to our already depleted squad.
