Cardiff City manager Dave Jones may turn to an unlikely saviour as he moves to stop our slide down the table and improve the balance of our side.
Eddie Johnson has flopped disasterously this season, playing just a handful of games and failing to score, or threaten meaningfully in that time. His reported £15000 per week wages have caused serious frustrations for fans and the on-loan Fulham man has looked far from the International £3m man he is reputed to be.
However, with Jay Bothroyd out for the Bluebirds, we have struggled. Parry, McCormack and Chopra possess no height or aerial prowess while in that time we have played far too many high balls to no avail.
The one thing Eddie Johnson has offered is a target in the air. During his few starts and occasional substitute appearances, he has won his fair share of high balls and shown glimpses of a useful partnership with McCormack.
Boss Dave Jones has suggested Johnson may get a call, but warned he simply must deliver. DJ told BBC Sport:
'He might get his chance and he's got to grab it.'
'He's here to score goals and he hasn't. There's no hiding place for anybody in football and it's no good not talking about it.'
Eddie does offer something different in attack to our other options and remains the only possible like-for-like option for Jay Bothroyd. He has shown nowhere near the level of quality of Bothroyd as yet but could yet prove an unlikely hero. A hat-trick tonight would soon have fans behind him!
