McPhail To Return And Cure Cardiff City's Blues?

Cardiff City have displayed a complete lack of invention and ambition over two games, a 0-0 draw with QPR and 1-0 defeat to Southampton. During this time, suggestions of 'losing our bottle' and 'letting the chance slip' have been raised. Following a 13 match unbeaten run, to lose one and have this reaction seems a little secessive.

However, not just the results are disappointing. The whole team was off colour on Saturday though I dont think Konstantopoulos, johnson or Gyepes could be blamed in any way for the defeat. Comminges, Kennedy, Ledley and Rae were average while otehr players have reason to be disappointed with their performances and fear for their places.

One man desperately hoping to profit should Dave Jones weild his axe is estranged midfielder Stephen McPhail - out of the side for several months now following a petulant dismissal against Swansea City. Prior to that he had been in poor form but his time out of the side will have hurt the proud Irishman.

McPhail has also been suffereing from a bruised stopmach and been unavailable for a couple of games. He is nearing a return and would love to be fit for tomorrrow's game against Barnsley - his former club.

McPhail is a superb passer, or can be. Too often he has played within himself and negatively - something we can ill afford right now. He does have the tendency to sit too deep, but at least he's available to receive the ball from our defenders ratehr than watch it fly aimlessly over their heads like Ledley and Rae have done. If he is given a chance, I expect more thought, determination and flair from a player desperate to prove himself and keep his place.

We need tomething, a change and an added spark. McPhail is certainly one player capable of that, now know's he cannot afford to be complacent and one desperate to make an impression. If he's fit, give him a chance.

To quote my ex: no ******** way! McPhail is capable only of taking us backwards. bring him in if we're playing well and creating chances - to lay this pressure on him....we've seen the results before

big mistake. if he needs a run out please leave it a reserve game or last 5 mins. especially coming back from injury.

Very true Bothroyd is the one we miss. He definitely wont be fit for tonight though so I'm told - the others all are
