Bothroyd To Get Mixed Wolves Reaction

Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd returns to his former club on Sunday looking for a happy return to his former ground. Things didnt exactly work out for Jay at Molineux, and he was allowed to join Cardiff for £300k over the sumemr.

Bothroyd has been one of the success stories of our season to date. He has worked hard, shown appreciable skill and his holding up play has been superb. After a slow start, he is now contributing useful goals and his partenrship with McCormack has flourished.

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans warned us that Jay had all the talent but was too lazy and inconsistent. He was popular with some, but many thought him to be a liability. Mick McCarthy is not expecting a particularly warm welcome for his former striker - he told the Express & Star:

"I could hazard a guess at the reception he`ll get! It`s fanciful - it makes for a good story. But does it make people try harder, I don`t know."

"Is it harder for them playing against their old side. Do you play better? Not always."

Great info. Thanks Mick. He could hazard a guess, but won't. It could make Jay play better, but then again it might not. Brilliant !

Bothroyd is in decent form and has picked up some deserved praise from several sources - not least Arsene Wenger who likened Bothroyd to Eric Cantona and insisted he is good enough for the top level. A good result at Wolves on Sunday would be the perfect tonic after defeat at Arsenal, no-one would like to score more than Jay Bothroyd.
