Arsenal Nightmare: Will It Help/Harm Cardiff ?

Cardiff City were given a thorough trouncing at the hands of Arsenal who really put us back in place during a 4-0 win for the Gunners. That will not upset too many Cardiff City fans as we look set for a real promotion charge and heavily congested fixture schedule while there is certainly no shame in losing to one of the best teams in Europe on their own patch.

Whilst the Gunners were exceptional, playing some irresistable football at times, we were nowhere near our best following two weeks without a game. The defeat is acceptable, but the manner of our beating is more worrisome. The break from games, and this cup defeat have been badly timed for us as we had looked in superb league form prior to that - 11 league games without defeat and 15 points from the last 19 on offer!

Hopefully the momentum will not be lost but our passing was laboured, our decisions poor and we generally appeared more lethargic and conservative than usual. We do have the options of Chopra, Whittingham and Quincy to freshen things up for the next game if needed where a win would put us in a superb position yet a defeat could see us out of the play-offs and under increased pressure.

What do you think? Will the break and/or defeat have curbed our progress? Can we re-find our momentum in the league? Or will this cost us and see us need to re-find our form? Let us know!
