The transfer window is shut and Cardiff City fans were somewhat surprised to participate in a window where we strengthened considerably and did not sell any of our first team regulars! Much of the talk pre and during the window centred around Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley and his future with West Ham, Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Stoke City amongst those interested.
However, whilst Ledley is an obvious talent and key member of our squad, a recent poll on this site was added to determine Bluebirds fans` views on our most important player…
Joe Ledley (24%)
Roger Johnson (53%)
Jay Bothroyd (7%)
Ross McCormack (12%)
A.N.Other (4%)
The results of the poll were obvious fairly early with only two players scoring significant votes, Joe Ledley and Roger Johnson are two young but experienced players - each of whom courted by Premiership clubs and attracting big money bids recently. In the end it was Roger Johnson who came out on top, in fact polling double the votes that Ledley received… This may be a product of the added options we have if Ledley were to be injured with Whittingham, Parry, Quincy and Burke all able to operate from wide areas, and McPhail a useful option in the centre .In defence we only have the out-of-favour Purse and the untried Dennehy.
City fans will be delighted to have both players for the rest of the season and both players will be delighted and relieved that we are in a realistic push for promotion, both belong in the Premiership….
