Bothroyd Injury Blow For Cardiff City

Cardiff City have been hit by some bad news ahead of Wednesday's trip to face Coventry City after Jay Bothroyd picked up a knee injury in the 0-0 draw with Arsenal.

Bothroyd played 90 minutes of the game, and was closely marked by Toure and Djourou in the Gunners defence. He was replaces in injury time by American Eddie Johnson - who is on standby to replace Bothroyd.

The former Wolves hitman has become a hugely important figure in our style of play. Although not yet prolific, Bothroyd has chipped in with important goals and is superb at holding the ball up and bringing our midfield into play. His partnership with McCormack has been of great significance in our good season to date and he will be greatly missed if unavailable.

Bothroyd will face a late fitness test and will hopefully be available to line-up against the Sky Blues. Eddie Johnson has by no means convinced in his time in South Wales - perhaps he is due another chance after goals in consecutive games for the reserves but he has looked hapless at times and is yet to score a goal for the first team.
