Cardiff City Will Take £8m For Ledley

Cardiff City have rejected West Ham United out of hand after a £5m bid for Joe Ledley and fired a stark warning to his many other suitors by slapping a heft £8m price tag on the Welsh midfielder.

At 22, there are few players in the game with as much Championship and International experience as Ledley and he has hardly missed a game for the Bluebirds in several seasons becoming a hugely important and consistent player for us.

Everton, Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Tottenham Hostpur and Arsenal are other clubs linked with Ledley and from those - none seem likely to part with £8m. In reality - we may accept a lesser offer but it seems Ridsdale is not in the mood for a cut-price sale.

The likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Fabien Delph, Theo Walcott are all exciting young players but none can boast a CV like Ledley's. Gabbidon, Collins, Earnshaw, Kavanagh, Chopra, Jerome have all played in the Premiership since leaving the Bluebirds - Joe can match any of them and any transfer fee should represent that.

£8m seems to me a 'hands-off' statement. We can only wait and see but there's no way a £5m offer for any of our players could have been rejected prior to this season. Stoke City saw £6m turned down, West Ham likewise. Ledley is a Bluebird.

fair price.

I agree - and well done, Peter Ridsdale, for signalling 'keep off' .. let's hope Joe stays and helps us up to the Premiership .. £8m is a fair price when you look at what other players are moving for in these crazy-money days - if Man City wanted Joe we should be going over £10m!!!

hes a quality player and thats why moyes has been watchin him for years unfortnately for moyes he doesn't have the funds to pay otherwise i reckon he would. which would be guttin as i want to see joe stay and help us get to the premiership. but as everyone is aware joe won't sign a new contract therefore in the summer we should cash in on him! he'll still be worth £5m in the summer so we should keep him til then as ridsdales 8m tag suggests we might just do that!
