Ridsdale's Promise To Cardiff City Fans

Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale has sent a clear message to fans anxiously awaiting bids for our top stars with Joe Ledley and Roger Johnson attracting admiring glances from the Premiership.


Since we were forced to part with Robert Earnshaw and Danny Gabbidon - supporters have seen our progress hampered by financial restriction necessitating the sale of talented players like Jobi McAnuff, Cameron Jerome, Chris Gunter and Aaron Ramsey but Ridsdale now firmly believes that time is over and we can be far stronger in wanting to keep hold of our players.


Ridsdale told BBC Sport:


"We intend to keep the squad together, unless an offer comes in that we can`t refuse."

"If an offer did come that was accepted, we would only do that if we thought it would strengthen the club. That means we would reinvest those funds in players Dave would identify."





Whatever you think of Mr Ridsdale, he is not stupid and statements of this clarity are not always forthcoming. He has admitted for some time that every player has their price but to state that funds raised would be re-invested is a clear indication that we should not be weakened in this transfer window.


If 5m were received for Ledley, and a cut-price 300k winger only brought in, Ridsdale would be crucified and have no defence - I don't believe he's that naive and with our stronger squad depth - Dave Jones should be able to bring in 1 or 2 high profile players to replace any departure without affacting squad quality too much.


We'll know for sure in the next two weeks...
