Next-Up Derby County See Off Manchester United!

Cardiff City need be under no illusions when Derby County visit Ninian Park on Saturday and will not be looking forward to an easy ride or certain three points despite the poor form and recent league position of the Rams.

Last night, in front of their new manager Nigel Clough, Derby County scored an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Carling Cup courtesy of a Kris Commons strike. The Red Devils could hardly be accused of fielding a 'weak' side after naming an XI featuring the likes of Vidic, O'Shea, Scholes and Nani. Superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney were brought on but were unable to make a decisive difference.

Nigel Clough officially takes over today and his first match in charge will be Saturdays encounter where Cardiff City must be at our best to take the points. After a new boss, and beating United, the Rams will be full of renewed optimism and be looking for another victory.

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones, and Chairman Peter Ridsdale were spotted in the stand for the game and will be well aware of the Rams capabilities.
