Cardiff City are maintaining their interest in securing the services of west Ham midfielder Luis Boa Morte after missing out on the capture of Wayne Routledge following a loan spell from Aston Villa.
Dave Jones initially moved for a winger after injuries to Whittingham and Ledley, but cannot have failed to notice the improved balance we had with a natural right footer on the right side of midfield. Additionally, he also must have noted a drastically impoved performance utilising Joe ledley in a central midfield role, adding more guile, power and attacking intent than the previous McPhail/Rae partnership.
Luis Boa Morte is seen as one potential acquisition, well known to Dave Jones who signed the Portuguese International while at Southampton. Boa Morte is currently out of favour at West Ham United and the Hammers also need to cut back their large squad during January.
At 31, he is no spring chicken but has terrorised defences at Premiership level for many years with Arsenal and Fulham. He could surely do a job for us, although wages would still be a major stumbling block if he were to join.
Boa Morte is likely to split fans' opinions...Is he still the threat he was? Or simply another of last season's veteran flops a la Trevor Sinclair? Click HERE to read/share views on Boa Morte in the Vital Cardiff Forum.
