Cardiff City Star Up For Monthly Award

Following Dave Jones' nomination for manager of the month (eventually going to Steve Coppell of Reading), Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd has been put forward for the monthly players award following an impressive December.

Bothroyd was not high on the Bluebirds wanted list but moves for Kris Boyd and Marcus Bent and Robbie Fowler all fell through and we turned to the forgotten man at Wolves - landing him for a paltry £300k.

After a slowish start, Bothroyd has adapted his game and is now a major force within our side forging dangerous partnerships with McCormack and Chopra as well as finding the net himself on a more regular basis than the likes of Steve Thompson, Hasselbaink or Alan Lee.

Bothroyd is incredibly skilful, yet is also a powerful presence. he is well equipped to deal with our fast-paced passing tempo, is adept at taking on opponents and has improved tremendously in the air and holding the ball up. That attribute is especially important as Bothroyd allows the likes of Ledley, Parry and Rae to burst forward and support.

Congratulations to Jay, he's up against Stephen Hunt (Reading), Jason Scotland (Swansea City) and Paddy McCarthy (Crystal Palace).

Jay Bothroyd, Bothroyd. He's cheaper than Krissie Boyd. And better than Jimmy Floyd. Jay Bothroyd !
