Cardiff City Gift Undeserved Point To Clarets
Cardiff City let a good performance go largely to waste as Burnley sneaked a point at Turf Moor. Despite us looking far the better side, it was the Clarets who took the lead as Paterson found space down the right and his shot was palmed to Robbie Blake who opened the scoring.
Credit to City, we continued to play the same way and got our reward on the half hour as Routledge's shot was saved only for Bothroyd to fire home from inside the area. Routledge caused all sorts of problems, while Bothroyd was a potent force up-front.
City took the lead just after the break, Routledge finished neatly inside the post from close range and the Burnley fans were on their team's back.
However, Burnley battled back and got their equaliser through Cardiff City old boy Steve Thompson - as all Bluebirds fans surely expected. The goal itself was bizarre as the ball rolled across goal only for Roger Johnson to slip, mis-kick and allow Thommo the easiest of all tap-ins - I'm sure the Scotsman couldn't believe his luck.
Before the game, a point looked a good result but the better teams in the division must put these games to bed and win after putting in such a performance. Credit to Burnley, after the equaliser they looked the more likely to win it but really - this was 2 points dropped.
