Cardiff City WILL Appeal Purse Red Card vs QPR

Cardiff City are set to appeal against the straight red card handed to Darren Purse on Saturday in the 1-0 QPR defeat.

Purse was dismissed for a lunging late tackle on winger Lee Cook, however the player himself and both managers believed the red card was unwarranted. Jones initially indicated there would be no appeal as there was 'no point' but looks set no to appeal the decision and the automatic 3 match ban.

We do seem to appeal every red card we are given, but I do feel there is a real case this time - and surely it would be bizarre if the FAW panel were to react differently to all others who saw the tackle.

Well no. In fact, this again highlights the rediculous situation whereby ours (and Swansea City's) appeals are heard by a different board i.e. FAW rather than FA than every other team in the football league. Whilst some would think this gives us an advantage, it seems a complete lottery as to the decision and I would seriously consider the chance that the decision is made on 'political' rather than footballing reasons.

We await the verdict. Purse would be replaced by Hungarian Gabor Gyepes if the ban were to stand.
