Who's That Coming Over The Hill - Michael Chopra!

Cardiff City fans will get the rare opportunity to welcome back a fans favourite tomorrow when Michael Chopra returns to the Bluebirds squad for an away game against QPR.

City fans are generally favourable to ex-players, the likes of Thompson, Lee, McAnuff all get a warm welcome and a modest round of applause when they face us. The likes of Earnshaw or Kavanagh get even more having been idols. Chops would ceertainly have received a good response if he arrived to play against us.

However it is pretty rare in football to have a popular player leave, understandable given the circumstances and fee, only to return later. The same fans who will travel to QPR are those who watched Chopra take the Championship by storm and nearly fire us into the play-offs just two seasons ago. It wasn't just his goals that made Chopra popular, an exemplary work-rate and obvious hunger and passion were on show every game.

This is only an initial 2 month loan, but hopes are high that the deal could be made permanent. Either way, an old Ninian Park song is sure to be resurrected...

.... It's Michael Chopraaaa!!!
