Cardiff City travel to Nottingham Forest this weekend and may line-up against a familiar striking opponent in former fans favourite Robert Earnshaw - surely relishing a chance to play against his former club. Another Notts Forest striker may be looking forward to the clash for an altogether different reason.
Former Manchester United veteran Andy(rew) Cole joined Nottingham Forest in the summer and has an alternative reason to anticipate a game against the Bluebirds after branding resurgent Cardiff City captain Darren Purse a muppet!
Cole was horrified by a late tackle minutes from the end of Cardiff City's 3-3 draw with Burnley last season. Cole stormed off the pitch, up the tunnel and after Purse who was dismissed (though the red card was later rescinded). Cole needed 10 stitches in his leg, calling Purse a muppet, and citing the tackle as the worst of his career.
Cole later mentioned he would be happy if he only played two games this season, as long as they were against Cardiff City home and away! I think its nice of Cole to think so highly of us after the Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and Newcastle United man's career...
Perhaps Cole has some revenge type mission lined up, my money would be on Purse anyway but more important is the three points up for grabs. Forest have struggled so far and lie bottom of the table representing a good chance for the Bluebirds to stretch their unbeaten run to five games and hopefully pick up a valuable win. Cole is in no way bigger than the game, and is unlikely to feature anyway!
