Fry Tells Cardiff City: 'Hands Off Our Striker' !

Cardiff City were yesterday reported to be keeping a close eye on Peterborough United striker Craig Makail-Smith, with Dave Jones watching the promising youngster in action.

However, with the striker already attracting plenty of interest and impressing in league one - he already looks out of our price range. Jones and Ridsdale negotiated the summer tansfer window spending next to no money and we have made a solid if unspectacular start to the season - losing just once so far in the league.

Peterbrough United manager Barry Fry has delivered another blow to any CCFC management or fans hoping to see Craig Makail-Smith in a Bluebirds shirt - telling Sky Sports:

'We are trying to build a team here capable of winning promotion and Craig is part of that, so we won't be looking to sell him any time in the near future.'

'We had a bid of a million pounds offered to us a year ago for him, which we turned down flat, and we are not interested in selling our best players.'

'The board have backed the manager all the way and have proven, by rejecting big offers for both Mackail-Smith and Aaron McLean, that they have the backbone to keep our stars here.'

Cardiff City are struggling in the striking department despite promises to rectify the problems of last season. Jay Bothroyd is not a natural goalscorer, Ross McCormack has done well but often drops deep to receive possession, Paul Parry remains a converted winger while Eddie Johnson has looked little short of shambolic thus far.
