McCormack To Be New Cardiff City Fans Hero?

McCormack To Be New Cardiff City Fans Hero?

Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack was lauded as the answer to our strikink problems but is soon became clear to Bluebirds that McCormack is not the out-and-out finisher we desperately need.

However, 6 goals in 11 appearances is an excellent return and the late consolation against Birmingham was an excellent goal and superbly taken.

In a game where plenty of players were largely bypassed and closed out, McCormack was always offering himself as an option. Parry and Whittingham were bystanders but McCormack constantly ran lost causes, into the channels and was forced to come deep to collect possession. Whilst some complained he was not in the box, I couldnt help feel we wouldnt get it to him if he was.

McCormack's goal was largely a solo affort as he cut in from the right, before a stepover allowed him room to fire a left footed shot into the far corner. What followed was another indication of McCormack's value to the team. Whilst the majority had their heads down for the afternoon, McCormack and Johnson immediately attempted to rouse the docile crowd.

The diminutive Scotsman pointed to his Bluebirds badge, and raised his arms repeatedly to the crowd - also gesturing to his watch to signify there was time remaining. if all the players had showed as much determination and spirit - it would have been a different game.

For me, McCormack was hands down man of the match, even without the goal. The running, on and off the ball put others to shame and he certainly looks up for the fight. Cardiff City fans have always wanted passion and committment from the players and McCormack looks certain to provide that - as well as 15 goals this season.

once again totally agree with you. i felt he tried hard all game even tho he wasn't provided with anything by the wingers. and for me his switch to the right wing towards the end seemed rather effective as i thought he pressured birm ingham with his quick and direct runs towards the box and then scored a good goal similar to one he scored a few weeks ago when he cut in from the right. to me mccormack seems to be an option on the right hand side over the ineffective whittingham and even parry of late. BUT that wud mean playing eddie johnson up front who might i add doesn't have the desire as u hav esaid in another article.

.. absolutely right - Ross rushing straight to the Bob Bank crowd to rouse them after his goal summed it all up - he had decided "sod all this pretty passy-passy usually going backwards stuff, let's just go for goal and SHOOT .. " .. oh for another forward - please Jay speed up .. if you can't, well ..
