Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was disappointed with the defeat but would surely have preferred this to happen in the cup rather than the league as Swansea City coped better with the occasion and referree. Jones told BBC Sport:
'We are all very disappointed. We let ourselves down. We didn't play as well as we can do and Swansea deserved the victory.'
'We made too many mistakes and it was our worst performance of the season, we lost our shape and discipline.'
'We have no complaints, we should have been better, but we got carried away with the occasion. We spoke about not getting the crowd up but we did.'
Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez was understandably elated with the result, and praised the fans:
'I'm very pleased for the fans because we saw what it means and the atmosphere was special.'
'We kept the ball well, we were patient enough and we played the normal way we play and in that respect it's a big difference.'
'This was an important game. It fulfilled all expectations, we know how important it was to get the result.'
Credit must go to Martinez after watching his side struggle for the opening half hour, he adapted his side to cut out Cardiff City's channels and we rarely threatened after that. Dave Jones was unusually impatient with his substitutes but had no option but to take Johnson off, the American looking lost as a Jacks fan at a Wales match....
