Cardiff City's hometown hero is one desperately looking forward to tonight's derby clash against Swansea City. Joe Ledley was not yet a teenager the last time the two South Wales clubs met in a meaningful encounter.
In the last few years, Ledley has established himself as a firm favourite with the Bluebirds with some truly excellent performances. Aside from his undoubted skill and talent, Ledley is a committed and determined individual who has consistently given everything for the cause.
In addition, Ledley has continually waved away thoughts of moves to other clubs and although he will surely leave for Premiership football if we can't provide it, he is a Cardiff City boy through and through. Every goal he scores, every time a team-mate wastes a chance - Ledley's reaction is easy to read - he loves Cardiff City as much as we do.
As a Bluebirds hero, Cardiff born and bred and one of our best players - Ledley is an obvious target for a hostile Liberty Stadium crowd but as he tells the SW Echo, thats OK with him:
"I can`t wait to get booed and if I do score I`ll just give it back to them, It is a massive game for us and you always want to play in these type of games because it means so much. I`m really looking forward to the game, I can`t wait."
"My friends know I`m going to take stick. But I`ll just prove them wrong and just play my game. I just can`t wait to get some tackles in."
"If we lost to Swansea City I would be devastated."
It can be players like Ledley, who know what these games are like and what they mean - that can make all the difference. That extra push to meet a cross or block a shot can be so crucial and in Joe Ledley we have a model pro who will be giving it eveything. As will the paltry 1500 allowed to travel.
